Inspired by the lyrical evolution in Tool’s Forty Six & 2, this work explores the harrowing journey of "Shadow Work"—the process of bringing repressed subconscious elements into the light of the conscious mind. I utilized a triptych of mirrored panels to serve as a physical map for this psychic transition.
The narrative begins at the first panel, acting as a threshold where the reflection is obscured, symbolizing the unrecognized Shadow and the weight of the repressed self. As the viewer moves to the middle panel, the mirror becomes a site of confrontation; it represents the active engagement with one's own darkness and the tension inherent in self-discovery. This culminates in the final panel, where the reflection symbolizes synthesis—the successful integration of the Shadow into a unified, conscious whole. Throughout this sequence, the human hand remains a vital motif, representing the agency and physical labor required to bridge the gap between the hidden subconscious and the realized self.
